COME ON PILGRIM

COME ON PILGRIM

Happy Thanksgiving to all the Wax Trax! people here in the US. While sitting around the table with the extended family, we hope your feast is good and the unavoidable conversation with that crazy uncle about politics & religion is even better!

Let’s get to some WAX TRAX! News – shall we?

WE’D LIKE TO THANK THE ACADEMY

Well, it looks like Industrial Accident picked up another festival award. A huge thank you to the fine folks and jury at SOUND UNSEEN – Minneapolis’ premiere film festival. Wax Trax! has won for best film in the 2018 series. Thank you!!

TRAX! OF FINLAND

A big reminder to all our Norsemen and Shield-Maidens out there, INDUSTRIAL ACCIDENT is screening again in Finland at Night Visions TOMORROW (Nov. 23) for the final Scandinavian show. TYR!!!!!!

JOURNEY TO THE END OF THE WEST BAY

For those of you who had missed the earlier news blast of West-Coast news. INDUSTRIAL ACCIDENT: The Story of Wax Trax! Records will screen ONE time only in SAN FRANCISCO on Dec. 12, 2018. This will be part of ANOTHER HOLE IN THE HEAD Film Festival. San Fransisco’s top underground film festival and part of the legendary DocFest family.
We strongly suggest getting TICKETS soon before they’re gone for good!!

MILE HIGH CLUB

Let’s circle back on this month’s DENVER FILM FESTIVAL. Wow – What an experience! Two sold out screenings with an all star cast of characters for the artist Q&A. The whole weekend was top notch and organized so well. A huge thank you to Groovie Mann, Jello Biafra and Al Jourgensen for taking time to make the trip and be part of the artist panel (As well as the awesome Jello DJ set!). I know it meant a lot for fans to hear the amazing WAX TRAX! stories from the architects themselves.

COME ON LET’S GO SOUNDTRACKIN’

We made an announcement to all our barely crowdfunding homies last month. Well, the cat got out of the bag on a larger scale so we felt it would probably help put a few minds at ease if we made a formal announcement.
The official soundtrack for INDUSTRIAL ACCIDENT will indeed be release in April of 2019. We will start taking pre-orders in January at the WAX TRAX! ONLINE STORE. We will divulge many more details including the track listing and special editions at that time.

BLACK WHITE BLU RAY

If you are waiting to get this movie into your collection,
well, I’ve got some GOOD news and some BAD news.
The good news is the documentary will be released on DVD & Blu Ray and VOD the same time as the SOUNDTRACK, with pre-orders of standard and special editions also beginning in January.

The bad news…Well, there is no bad news. I was just fucking with you.

THE TOUR OF RAPE AND HONEY

As some of you know, Ministry’s Land of Rape and Honey officially turned 30 earlier this year. Al, Paul and Chris from the classic line up have recently been interviewed about making the landmark record and the current Ministry line up is on tour starting this month to celebrate the milestone as well as support their new album Amerikkkant.
A complete list of tour dates can be found on the main MINISTRY site. Hmmm…Could a reunion be in the works? We will just have to wait and see.

That’s it for now. You have your orders: Vikings – invade Night Visions on 11/23 , San Franciscans Storm The Studio, 12/12!!

Happy Thanksgiving – Now go eat some turkey!

BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE OF DENVER

Denver Update:

Jello Biafra, Al Jourgensen, Groovie Mann just added to Denver Film Festival panel & screening of the Wax Trax! documentary on Friday Nov. 9.

That’s right – The artist’s panel scheduled for November 9th as part of INDUSTRIAL ACCIDENT: The Story of Wax Trax! Records will now include Ministry front man, Al Jourgensen, Groovie Mann from My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult, and long time Wax Trax! collaborator, friend and Colorado native, Jello Biafra. A second screening of the award winning documentary will screen also on Saturday November 10.

In addition, a special Wax Trax! event has been planned with a DJ set from Jello Biafra following the Friday night discussion at the Lion’s Lair.
Tickets for both screenings can be found here.

LIVE AT LEEDS
All your hard work with contacting festivals and letting them know you want to see the film has paid off!
We will be screening back in the UK at the LEEDS INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL on November 3, 2018. This will be our last UK festival scheduled. We hope some of you all can check it out.

HEAD LIKE A HOLE
Well, it looks like Golden Gates and Tenderloins are in our future. We are super honored to be screening INDUSTRIAL ACCIDENT in San Fransisco this November and December as part of ANOTHER HOLE IN THE HEAD 2018 programming. Actual screening dates and times are not firmed up and we will let you know as soon as the festival announces the details.

SWINGIN’ PARTY
Yep, the Wax Trax! documentary is heading to the Twin Cites. We’ll be in the land of Paisley Parks, Twin Tones and Husker Dues. Please join the awesome crew at SOUND UNSEEN FILM FESTIVAL in Minneapolis, MN as they screen the Wax Trax! documentary over multiple nights. We just got word that the first screening sold out pretty quickly but it looks like they have scheduled a third showing of the film.  I wouldn’t delay on picking up tickets for one of these other screenings or you may just be out of luck – You’ve been warned!

Let us not forget about the screenings we have scheduled already! The Wax Trax! documentary will be in Barcelona twice (Oct. 27 & Nov. 4) and Madrid on Nov. 3.
For the Saturday, October 27 screening, Richard Jonckheere and Patrick Codenys will join Julia Nash for a special artist panel/ Q&A. Tickets for all three screenings can be found at IN-EDIT Barcelona, and IN-EDIT Madrid.

Don’t forget, a full list of screenings can be found on our screenings page here at waxtraxfilms.com.

-Until next time.

TIME TO GET ILL

Happy Monday Wax Trax people!

A lot to talk about regarding INDUSTRIAL ACCIDENT and the film festival circuit that we are now neck deep into.
Before we get into some past, present and future news, I wanted to again address a question that we keep getting, A LOT. Some of this has been repeated many times but hey, some folks are just finding out about the documentary so it makes sense that we might have to go over this a few more times.

Q: “The film is done so why can’t I download, stream or buy a Bluray or DVD of INDUSTRIAL ACCIDENT now?  Are you guys crazy? I’m trying to give you my money and you won’t take it.” What a shitty way to treat your fans, you guys suck! (Yes, people actually have sent us hate email because we can’t sell them the DVD right now)

A: Trust us, nothing would make us happier than to usher this film through the ultimate finish line and make it available for purchase. Some people may not understand everything that goes into creating a project like this and then getting it to mass market. We legally can not sell this movie until we pay for the proper licenses for music in the film. Will that happen? -We hope so. But this is such a complicated process that it continues to be an uphill climb.

Q: Then why did my friend Carl just buy a ticket and see it at Rooftop film festival?…And speaking of “Film Festivals”, why are the screenings at all these festivals that don’t make sense? I mean come on…You screened in Cape Cod and didn’t screen in (insert bigger city here) – WTF? What a shitty way to treat your fans, you guys suck! (<sigh>Yes, people have actually sent us hate email about this too because there are no screenings by them)

A:  Part 1, We have paid for all the music in the film under something called a festival license. Typically it allows the filmmaker to show the movie publicly at festivals as they look for distribution, buyer, investor, etc. to help with funding for the much larger commercial license. The downside of this kind of license is we are contractually obligated to screen only at festivals. Our festival license will run out in 2019. Let’s hope we can acquire the funding to take this to the next level.

A: Part 2, Just to clarify again – We don’t pick the festivals, the festivals pick us. If we get passed up by let’s say a Texas festival, there isn’t a lot Wax Trax! can do about it.

-Just trying to be as transparent as possible. Hope that helps.

Onward and upward…

NO SLEEP TILL BROOKLYN

We want to thank everyone who came out to our ROOFTOP FILMS screening in Brooklyn just over a month ago. We sold out the HOUSE OF VANS with over 900 Wax Trax! fans spread out in front of two screens. The response to the collector’s pop-up shop and archive gallery exhibit was incredible and we met so many amazing people throughout the night. Thank you!

You can read more about the Brooklyn event at REVOLVER magazine.

In the weeks that followed NY, we were able to get the film in front of fans in Massachusetts and then all the way over in Belgium. It has been a wild global ride and it ain’t over!

RIGHT RIGHT NOW NOW

What is next?… How about Greece, Switzerland, Northern UK, Canada, Spain, California, Michigan, Washington, Arizona…and of course Chicago?

Starting this week we have some very special screenings planned taking place all over the world. If you have been wanting to see this film and you will be in any of these areas, we strongly suggest checking out some of these festivals as we start a two month Blitzkrieg across the globe. As I’ve said above, there is no guarantee that we will be able to release this film commercially due to music licensing costs. It may be to only chance to see INDUSTRIAL ACCIDENT: The Story of Wax Trax! Records. You snooze, you may lose!

The film is scheduled for Sept. 22 & 23 and will also include a special Wax Trax! collector’s pop-up shop in the METRO box office during all 3 days of the fest. In addition, a complete list of festivals and documentary news can be found at WAXTRAXFILMS.COM

FIGHT FOR YOUR RIGHT

We still have a few more things up our sleeve and will be announcing more screenings in the next few weeks.
However, it is really you the fans that have the power to drive this film to a festival near your town. As I have mentioned before, we do not pick the festivals, the festivals pick us. If they don’t think there will be an audience, they may not want to take any risks.
This is not a complete list by any stretch and if you know of a festival in your area that runs between now and spring 2019.
Send them an email and let them know that the story of Wax Trax! Records does indeed need to be told at their festival.

Let your voice be heard. Click on the fest near you and ask them to program INDUSTRIAL ACCIDENT: The Story of Wax Trax! Records

STAGE OF REASON

STAGE OF REASON

Hey Wax Trax! people, just a quick little documentary update…

Thanks for all the Wax Trax! folks who made it out to the Seattle premiere of INDUSTRIAL ACCIDENT last Saturday. What an amazing turnout and thank you for all the wonderful comments and private messages we’ve received. We’re so happy you liked the film!

We’re not through with you Seattle. Our second screening is tomorrow MAY 22 at the Egyptian Theater…But the real fun happens as we close out Seattle International Film Festival on MAY 30. The final screening will include a special panel with…

PAUL BARKER (Blackouts/Ministry/Lead Into Gold/Pailhead/Acid Horse)

PATTY JOURGENSEN (Manager for Ministry & Blackouts)

ME (AKA-Julia Nash)

BILL RIEFLIN (Blackouts/Ministry/Lead Into Gold/Pailhead/Acid Horse)

You can find tickets to all the scheduled screenings on the SCREENINGS page

We will constantly be adding and updating cities and dates as the festival season moves forward, so check back often or sign up for the  newsletter.

To re-answer a common question that we’ve received over and over again (This has been answered on our FAQ page for some time now)

“WTF-Why don’t you bring this film to (insert your city here)?”

It’s very important to remember, we don’t pick the festivals…The festivals pick us. When we submit to (Insert random film festival here), they either accept this film for their programming or they decide to pass. Our suggestion is, if you want the Wax Trax! documentary to screen at a film festival near you, please contact the festival directly to put it on their radar.

.

A big follow-up thanks to all of our Nashville homies who were able to catch the film last week. We had such a great time, and getting Groovie Mann down there to help with the Q&A was magical. After we finish up with Seattle, it’s onto Chicago, Montreal, and Brussels…Hmmm, How about the east coast you ask? We always liked New York in July. -Just sayin’

That’s it for now.

More info on future screenings as well as soundtrack reward info, DVD releases and all things INDUSTRIAL ACCIDENT will be updated asap.

Thanks again for all the great feedback on the film. We’re super excited that it has been received so well and can’t wait to share it with a larger audience!

Until next time,

xo-J
